Durand Cup 2019: Marcus Joseph scores hat-trick as Gokulam Kerala finishes top of Group D

Gokulam Kerala FC rode on Marcus Joseph’s hat-trick to record an emphatic 4-1 win over TRAU FC to finish its Group D engagements with nine points in the Durand Cup football tournament at the Howrah Stadium on Sunday.

Following a barren first half, GKFC, which had already qualified for the semifinals, scored all its goals in an action-packed second period. Andre Ettienne was the other scorer for the Kerala team. M. Roger scored the consolation goal for TRAU.

In other inconsequential affairs, Chennaiyin FC held Indian Air Force to a goalless draw, while Chennai City FC beat Army Green 2-1 to post its first victory.

Group C: Chennai City 2 (Mashoor Shereef 42, S.M. Eugene 66) bt Army Green 1 (Lallawmkima 10)

Group D: Chennaiyin FC 0 drew with Indian Air Force 0; Gokulam Kerala FC 4 (Marcus Joseph 58, 64-p, 83, Andre Ettienne 73) bt TRAU FC 1 (M. Roger 87).
