Shillong Lajong Football Club has extended Brazilian Forward Uilliams Bomfim Souza contract for the forthcoming I-League season.

The Brazilian striker began his journey with the Northeast I-League club in the summer of 2013 and played an integral role in his debut season. Lajong ended the 2013-14 I-League season in the sixth position under head coach Thangboi Singto.

The soft spoken versatile foreigner continued to impress the Lajong coaches and management with his passion and commitment towards the game and was recruited in the following year for the second consecutive season.

Uilliams is known for his fast pace, quick feet, power in the attacking third and goal scoring ability that include long rangers.

Coach Singto regards him as a team player both on and off the field and he explained the reasons for retaining Uilliams, saying, “Uilliams has done very well for the club in the past two seasons. His performance both on and off the field has been good. This year we expect more from him to contribute towards the team and also to be a leader in the team. I was very clear on my decision to retain him.

“He scored seven goals last season. I know that the kind of contribution he can provide to the team and could excel in his performances if he remains fit and highly motivated. We are hoping him to do better, sweat more, and achieve higher this season. All the Lajong faithfuls also need to be together and united, and support the club always.”
