Minerva Punjab, Mohun Bagan to kickstart 2017-18 I-League season

The League will feature 90 matches played over four months across nine venues. The first Kolkata derby is to be held on December 3.

I-League defending champion Aizawl FC kickstarts its title defence against Kingfisher East Bengal at Kolkata on November 28.

Amidst all the confusion over the scheduling of the 2017-18 I-League season, the fixture for the league was announced on Tuesday.

Minerva Punjab FC will play host to Indian football heavyweight Mohun Bagan in the season opener on November 25 in Ludhiana while defending champion Aizawl FC kickstarts its title defence against East Bengal in Kolkata on November 28. On December 3, Mohun Bagan hosts East Bengal in what will be the first Kolkata derby of the season.

Gokulam Kerala FC, making its debut this season, will lock horns with Shillong Lajong FC at the JL Nehru stadium in Shillong. In its first home fixture at Kozhikode , it will square off against Chennai FC on December 6.

The Chennai-based side, on the other, hand, will play its first home game after being on the road for its first five matches while its first away fixture will be against Indian Arrows, the venue for which is yet to be decided.

On January 13, East Bengal is scheduled to host Mohun Bagan in the second and last Kolkata derby.
