New-look Shivajians squad for I-League

Youngsters Jerry Lalrinzuala, who played for Chennaiyin FC in the ISL, will turn out for DSK in the I-League.

DSK Shivajians FC announced a new look squad for the I-League 2017 season, managed by Dave Rogers from England and former head of the DSK Liverpool Academy in Pune.

Foreign players include Spain’s Juan Quero, an ex-Real Madrid Youth Academy product who has been retained, besides new signings Kim Song Yong (North Korea), Shane McFaul (Ireland) and Sasha Kolunija (Serbia).

The Pune-based club has signed domestic players, among whom Sanju Pradhan, Soram Poirei, Nirmal Chettri and Subrata Paul are familiar faces, following appearances for different franchises in the Indian Super League. Ricky Lallawmawma has joined from I-League club Aizawl FC.

Team manager Rogers also recruited youngsters Jerry Lalrinzuala (Chennaiyin FC), Holicharan Narzary and Sumeet Passi (NorthEast United FC).

The Pune club had made I-League debut last season and ended up in the ninth position. Rogers moved up from DSK Academy to be Team Manager for the first team, coach is Kaizad Ambapardiwalla . DSK Shivajians open the I-League campaign against Mumbai FC in an away game on January 8, followed by five home games, to be played at Balewadi stadium, against East Bengal, Chennai City FC, Churchcill Brothers SC, Mohun Bagan FC and Aizawl FC respectively.
