Rennedy Singh (SC East Bengal interim coach) on the match: "When I realised the game was going towards a draw, I brought on players like Balwant (Singh) and Jackichand (Singh) who are comfortable with the ball. I am really happy with the Indian players. We just had one foreigner and they (Mumbai City FC) had four top foreign players so I am really happy with the way our boys played. Tomorrow, we will focus on recovery and start focusing on the next match. I have no complaint about the boys' commitment." Des Buckingham (Mumbai City FC head coach) on the result: "I think tonight was very simple. We played very good football and three stonewall penalties were not given. So for me, that is where the game has gone wrong tonight. We created a lot of chances but when crystal-clear decisions are not given, it is frustrating." SC East Bengal's Sourav Das (Hero of the Match): "Our target is not to draw with the champion team but to win all the three points. We have fewer foreigners but it is okay. All of us are equal. Rennedy Singh on the approach against Mumbai City FC: "Yeah, as I said before the last match, the way we played against Hyderabad, I think that was a match in which our players thought that yes, we can also do well and in the previous two matches the way the boys have fought, the way they have played, the way they have defended, I was really happy to see. The only thing is when we get the ball can we play with a little more confidence and that's what we all are working on right now." Des Buckingham on the strategy against SC East Bengal: "Whenever you play a team that's just had a change of coach, I think anywhere around the world, sometimes you see an uplift, not just in the performance, but in results too. So, it's something that we're very aware of and I go back to what I said here several times. I don’t think it’s where the teams are in the league [table] doesn’t play a reflection on the outcome of some of the games." |

Adil Khan (SC East Bengal): Khan was excellent in his last game after returning from his injury and is bound to lead the SC East Bengal backline. The defender has made 11 tackles, nine clearances, six interceptions, and four blocks in five games.
Bipin Singh (Mumbai City FC): The 26-year-old has scored thrice and provided two assists in nine matches. His link-up with Igor Angulo has been effective and has caused problems for the opponent.

Mumbai City FC: Everyone is fit and available for selection in the Mumbai City FC camp except Vikram Singh and Rowllin Borges who are ruled out due to their respective injuries.
MATCH PREVIEW: Bottom placed SC East Bengal face Mumbai City challenge
Still searching for its maiden win this season, bottom-lying SC East Bengal will be trying to draw some confidence from its previous round’s performance when it takes on the holder Mumbai City FC in a 10th round match of ISL at Tilak Maidan Stadium on Friday.
The red and golds have remained winless in the last 13 matches now (including the last four matches it played in the previous season).
Its interim coach Renedy Singh will have to find the right motivation that could help the side end the prolonged state of under-performance. The former India captain did help the side bring up a spirited show against Bengaluru FC in the previous outing and earned a lot of praise for his team not winning the drawn encounter.
Renedy, who has been with the side as an assistant coach since it started the ISL journey, will have to devise a good plan to keep Mumbai City FC’s famed attack in check. “I was really happy with the way the boys fought and defended in the last game. The only question now is when we get the ball, can we play with a little bit more confidence and that is what we all are working on right now,” Renedy said before the match. Mumbai City, which has been nudged to the second spot by Hyderabad FC, will be desperate to get back the win that has been eluding it in the last three rounds.
“We are looking at it in the context of the nine games as opposed to the last three we played. Across the nine games, we have played some good football,” Mumbai coach Des Buckingham said.
