Hello and welcome to Sportstar's live blog of the Hyderabad vs Bengaluru ISL game. This is Dominic Richard and I will be taking you through our live coverage. Let's get going! |
So yet another Indian Super League (ISL) game comes to an end. Hope you enjoyed our coverage. Tune in again tomorrow for the match between ATK and Mumbai City FC. Until then, see you!
Bengaluru FC should have buried this game long ago. So many missed chances for the defending champion tonight and it had to pay for it. Meanwhile, Hyderabad FC performed extremely well under pressure with just 10 men. Right towards the end, when Bengaluru was napping, the home team's super-sub Robin Singh scored and salvaged a point for his side. Poor stuff from Carles Cuadrat's men here. Phil Brown must be the happier of the two managers.
AND THE GAME IS DONE AND DUSTED!!!
90+4' One last counter-attack from Hyderabad?? No Yasir doesn't want to take a risk here. He just wastes time as the referee blows the whistle.
90+2 EQUALISER!!!!! IT'S 1-1!! ROBIN SINGH SCORES!!!!! 10-man Hyderabad has made an unlikely comeback here. What a game we've had!! Stankovic with a decent ball into the box. The sub Aashish Rai collected the ball and had a shot on target. Bengaluru keeper Gurpreet made the save and the rebound fell to Robin Singh who calmly equalised for his side.
89' SUBSTITUTION!! India international Udanta Singh makes way for Edmund Lalrindika. Both Bengaluru coach Carles Cuadrat and his Hyderabad counterpart Phil Brown look absolutely animated on the sidelines. Four minutes to be added on!
86' BOOKED!!! Hyderabad forward Robin Singh wanted to somehow reach a long pass from his teammate but Gurpreet got to the ball first and cleared it. Robin's momentum made him take out Gurpreet with a high boot. And the referee gives him a yellow card.
83' YELLOW CARD!! Hyderabad's Gurtej Singh will miss next Sunday's game against FC Goa after receiving a third yellow card this season. CLOSE! Kean Lewis takes too much time. A good pass to Chhetri on his right would have sealed the game for Bengaluru but Kilgallon took the ball off him.
81' CLOSE AGAIN!!! Chettri with a wonderful move forward. He sets up Udanta who should have scored here. But the ball is deflected away by Gurtej. Bengaluru should have at least scored three today. SUBSTITUTION!! Final one for Hyderabad. Robin Singh replaces Rafael Gomez Lopez.
78' CORNER FOR BENGALURU!! Delgado takes it but it's a poor one. Partaalu tries to get to it but the ball is cleared. Bengaluru recovers the ball and there are around five to six players on the attack. Lewis with an attempted cross but Kamaljit gets to it before Augusto.
74' SUBSTITUTION!!! Bengaluru's first of the night. Ashique Kuruniyan who has had a good game today will make way for Kean Lewis. Questionable change but Cuadrat might want some fresh legs right now.
72' SAVE!!! Ashique to Chhetri to Kuruniyan who had the goal at his disposal. But his shot was weak and Kamaljit made a decent save. The Bengaluru skipper did well to create the chance here.
69' HUGE OFFSIDE!!! The sub Giles Barnes was just too eager to get forward. Marcelinho had dissected the Bengaluru defence with a brilliant pass. However, everything goes to waste as Bengaluru executes the offside trap pretty well.
67' GOOD SAVE!!! Nishu Kumar found Udanta Singh with a brilliant pass from midfield. The Bengaluru winger took the ball forward and his cross was punched away just in time by Hyderabad captain Kamaljit Singh. Ashique Kuruniyan was just inches away from slotting the ball home.
63' ANOTHER HYDERABAD SUBSTITUTION!!! Phil Brown sends in Jamaica's Giles Barnes to replace the Brazilian forward Bobo.
60' YELLOW CARD! Marcelinho with an absolutely silly tackle on Raphael Augusto. It could have resulted in a red card as well. Poor poor stuff from the Hyderabad FC player.
58' SUBSTITUTION! Aashish Rai replaces Laldanmawia Ralte for Hyderabad FC. The home team's coach Phil Brown had no other choice but to go for a defensive change.
56' RED CARD!!!! SAHIL PANWAR HAS TO GO OFF THE FIELD NOW! It was a tackle of desperation. Hyderabad was actually on the attack a few moments ago. Nikhil Poojary lost the ball and the counter-attack was on! Ashique Kuruniyan sprinted past a number of Hyderabad players and passed it to Udanta who was one-on-one with the keeper but Sahil pulled him back to be dismissed from the game.
52' CLOSE!!! Hyderabad has started this half well. Stankovic, Marcelinho and Bobo are finally gelling well. Marcelinho to Stankovic to Bobo in the box. But the Brazilian striker's final shot is just off the target.
49' FREE-KICK FOR HYDERABAD!!! And it's from a dangerous position. Bobo was brought down by Juanan. Marcelinho will take the kick. And the ball goes way off target.
46' Bengaluru continues to dominate. Augusto got the ball from Stankovic in midfield and took a long range shot. It was blocked by a Hyderabad defender. The rebound fell to Udanta whose shot is also blocked. Marcelinho receives the ball and goes on the counter but Partaalu brings him down and is booked. YELLOW CARD!
THE SECOND-HALF IS UNDERWAY!
Hyderabad doesn't have a single shot on target so far. And on the other hand, Chhetri has scored the quickest goal in this season of the Indian Super League (ISL), in 110 seconds. Bengaluru could have scored more goals but the home side should be absolutely thankful for this 0-1 scoreline. Let's see what happens in the final 45 minutes. Stay Tuned!
Sunil Chhetri and South Indian ISL teams - still a better love story than twilight. The Bengaluru FC skipper scored against Chennaiyin FC, he found the back of the net against Kerala Blasters and today against Hyderabad FC he once again gave his side the lead.
AND THE FIRST 45 MINUTES OF THE GAME ARE DONE AND DUSTED!!!
45+2' FREE-KICK FOR HYDERABAD!! Stankovic will take it and his kick lands straight into the arms of the waiting Indian national team shotstopper - Gurpreet Singh Sandhu.
45' Two minutes to be added on! This must be the most one-sided first-half in the 2019-20 season of the Indian Super League. And Gurpreet gets another chance to get involved in the game after an offside by Bobo.
43' CLOSE!!! Finally Hyderabad has a chance. Marcelinho gets the ball in midfield. He passes it to Yasir on the left flank. Yasir's low cross is blocked by Bengaluru defender Juanan. Bobo was waiting in the middle to pounce on the ball but the Spanish centre-back comes to his team's rescue.
41' Gurpreet Singh finally touches the ball this game!!! It was a goal-kick and the inevitable finally happens towards the end of the first-half. That's how much Bengaluru FC has dominated this match against Hyderabad FC.
38' YELLOW CARD!! Bengaluru's first of the day. Serran takes out Stankovic with a lethal and mistimed sliding tackle just like that. And the referee shows him the yellow card. Marcelinho takes the free-kick for Hyderabad but Partaalu clears the danger with a header.
35' ANOTHER CORNER FOR BFC! Raphael Augusto with a brilliant pass to Udanta from midfield but Sahil Panwar's sliding tackle takes the ball out. Bengaluru is unable to do anything with the resultant corner.
32' After a few moments the corner is taken by Delgado. VERY CLOSE!!! How did Serran miss that???!!!! The corner was in itself very close to the target and Serran rushed to it. A simple tap-in would have sealed the deal. But Kilgallon's pressure saves the day for Hyderabad.
30' CORNER! Bengaluru is totally dominating this game. Ashique Kuruniyan evaded a few Hyderabad players on the left wing. He crossed the ball to Chhetri who back-heeled it to Nishu Kumar whose shot was saved by Kamaljit, who seems to be injured.
26' Finally Marcelinho has made a move. Stankovic took the ball off Khabra and found Marcelinho who driblled past few players and moved forward. But he had too much to do. He should have just passed the ball to Bobo. WASTED CHANCE!
25' CLOSE! Udanta and Chettri with a brilliant one-two. The captain finally finds Augusto whose shot is just off the target. Bengaluru has completed 161 passes so far as opposed to Hyderabad's 85.
22' Four Bengaluru surround the ball. Partaalu takes the kick. Actually he passes it to Delgado who has a shot at goal. But it's way off target. Bengaluru has had 65% possession, four corners, seven shots and two shots on goal so far.
21' FREE-KICK!! YELLOW CARD FOR YASIR! Hyderabad had just cleared a corner but the ball went back to Bengaluru. Augusto found Udanta, who was brought just outside the box, with a precise pass. The referee books Mohammed Yasir for that desperate foul.
17' CORNER FOR BENGALURU!! Delgado takes it once again. The ball falls to Chhetri whose weak header doesn't trouble the Hyderabad defence and keeper.
14' HANDBALL?! Not given by the referee. Gurtej Singh looked to have handled the ball inside the box on the slide when Khabra was attempting a low cross. But the referee only gives a corner. Cuadrat is furious on the sidelines. Juanan's header of the Dimas Delgado corner kick goes straight to Kamaljit.
11' A long throw-in into the box from Bengaluru's Erik Partaalu but Hyderabad's Nikhil Poojary clears the danger but the ball goes out for another throw-in.
8' CLOSE! Udanta Singh with a brilliant run on the right flank. However, Gurtej stays on him and averts the danger as Hyderabad's captain and keeper Kamaljit Singh collects it.
6' Raphael Augusto takes a wild shot. But it goes way off target. He had a lot of time there. The Brazilian has a whopping 102 shots in the ISL out of which only six were goals. Meanwhile, Sunil Chhetri has scored in three consecutive games now.
3' GOALLLL!!!! WHO ELSE? SKIPPER SUNIL CHHETRI OPENS THE SCORING! Bengaluru FC takes the lead the against Hyderabad FC. Poor passing from the home team here. Laldanmawia Ralte made a random pass after receiving the ball from his keeper and Chhetri stole the ball took it to his right and slotted it home. Gurtej Singh tried to recover but it's 1-0 to the defending champ.
AND THE MATCH IS UNDERWAY!!!

MATCH PREVIEW:
Bengaluru FC will look to pick up its third win on the trot and provisionally move to the top of the Indian Super League (ISL) table when it goes up against Hyderabad FC at the GMC Balayogi Athletic Stadium on Thursday.
Sitting in third position with nine points, BFC could leapfrog both Jamshedpur FC and ATK, both of whom have a point more than the Blues. After registering three draws in its first three matches, BFC defeated Chennaiyin FC and Kerala Blasters to get its ISL title defence back on track.
Up next for Carles Cuadrat's men is a Hyderabad side that’s bottom of the table with three points from five matches. And Cuadrat believes it will not be easy game for his side.
"Hyderabad need the points, so it's going to be a tough game for us. Especially after you lose a game in the manner that they did, you want to come back from it and be focused so they are going to be better than they were before," Cuadrat said ahead of the game.
His opposite number Phil Brown did admit that Hyderabad was feeling the pressure but trusts his team to perform.
“We do not deserve to be where we are in the league table. However, if we keep on working hard and put honest performances, things will change. We are feeling the pressure as we are 10th. But all I can ask is that the boys give their 100% while they are representing the club,” said Brown.
The game against the Blues will be challenging for Hyderabad considering both teams' defensive records. The unbeaten Bengaluru side has conceded just one goal and has the most number of clean sheets this season. On the other hand, Hyderabad has conceded a league-high 12 goals in five matches. The fact that a side managed by Brown has failed to keep a clean sheet in ISL so far does not make for a good reading.
Team news
The Blues will be hoping for Onwu and defender Rahul Bheke to return from injuries after the duo missed the last game against Kerala. However, Cuadrat said that their inclusion will be a late call.
HFC has also struggled with injuries of its own and it managed to field five foreigners only against Chennaiyin FC earlier this week. While most of its players have returned from the sidelines, a key player in doubt is Adil Khan, who picked up an injury while on national duty.
The match will be live on Star Sports network and streaming on Hotstar, kick-off at 7.30 pm (IST).
