Here is the

full points table

FULLTIME. A wasted opportunity for Chennaiyin with the final freekick and another wasted opportunity to climb up the table. Chennaiyin had the better chances to win the game but was let down by poor finishing and gradually ran out of steam. It's remained its theme of the season. Arshdeep kept Odisha in the game in the first half but he was relatively untroubled in the second.

90'+4' Bora with a crunching tackle to stop Rahim's urn down the right.

90'+3' Shouts for a penalty appeal inside the Chennaiyin box with shirt being pulled.

90'+1' Corner kick for Chennaiyin. From the corner, the ball falls to Chhangte, whose cross is headed wide by Memo.

FIVE MINUTES OF ADDED TIME

89' OFC SUB: Shubham ON, Nandha OFF

86' Poor ball by Sabia into the box after being released down the left side. A better pickout would have had Chnennaiyin in business there.

86' Isma wins a corner with a run down the right side.

83' Freeick for Odisha. Chennai gets on the counter through Rahim but Tratt ceans him up from behind. Booking for Tratt.

80' Foul called against Rahim for bringing down Mauricio.

78' Play resumes and Mauricio plays a through ball for Onwu but the linesman calls offisde.

Water break taken

75' CFC SUB: Fathkulo OFF, Edwin ON

75' Kaith releases Chhangte on the counter but Chhangte can't do the same for Isma and that allows Vinit to clear the ball away.

74' Mauricio does well to get the ball down the left and play a cutback and the ball is deflected behind for a corner.

73' Spell of Chennaiyin possession ends with Chhangte running the ball out of play down the left.

71' CHANCE! Chennaiyin can draw the curtains on this season... Taylor completely misses the ball at the back and Rahim is through on goal and with a narrow angle to shoot from, he gets the sidenetting.

70' OFC SUB: Onwu ON, Daniel OFF

68' CFC SUB: Isma ON, Sylvestr OFF

67' Jerry M having a good game here. He twists and turns his namesake on the right but he can't get into a good position to play the cross.

65' Freekick into the Odisha box but no Chennaiyin player meets the ball. Shouts for handball against an Odisha player before the ball is cleared away.

60' Vinit Rai with a foul on Rahim to stop Chennaiyin an opportunity to counter. In the lead up to that challenge, Odisha moves the ball well outside the Chennaiyin box but fails to find the pass behind the defence.

59' Bora wins the header but he goes down over Sylvestr. Freekick in favour of Odisha.

55' Brilliant from Jerry M to run past Thapa and Sipovic inside the box but he can't quite manage to keep the ball in play inside the byline. Ball runs out and the referee awards a goalkick.

52' Some good build up down the right by Odisha. Vinit's shot on the volley inside the box is straight at Kaith.

49' Sloppy from Taylor.. A long crossfield from Reagan to the left and Chhangte quickly races onto the ball. He takes a first time shot which hits the sidenetting. The winger could have taken a a couple of touches to make room for a better angle to take the shot.

48' Rahim looks for a one-two with Sylvestr but the latter's pass leaves his striker short.

46' Odisha gets us underway in the second period.

SECOND HALF

HALF-TIME! Arshdeep has bailed Odisha out here and Chennaiyin's poor run in front of goal continues.  Chennaiyin has dominated possession with 59 per cent of the ball and has taken 8 shots on goal to Odisha's solitary effort.

45' +4' SAVE! Patient build up from Chennaiyin down the right and Thapa slips a ball behind for Reagan, who fires in a low cross into the six yard area. Sylvestr meets the ball with a backheel but its Arshdeep again with the save!

45' +1' SAVE! Sylvestr does well to hold up and lay the ball for Rahim to fire a shot at goal. It was heading into goal but for Arshdeep's sprawling save!

Three minutes of added time.

44' Nandha with a good cross into the box but there are no Odisha players to attack that cross.

42' Cole Alexander with a superb pickout from 30 yards out for Mauricio, who heads the ball into the net past Kaith. But the assistant puts his flag up. Superb decision by the linesman.

41' Booking for Jerry L for a foul on Mauricio. It's a knee against knee clash.

39' Chennaiyin lacking a little bit of its fluency right now.. Chhangte to Jerry L inside the box and he squares the ball at the edge of the area for Thapa. Thapa's first-time effort is off target.

37' Chhangte looks to run through Odisha's defence but Tratt puts in a crunching tackle to dispossess him.

28' Tratt and Rahim with a cometogether and the latter comes off worse. Clash of heads.

27' Chennaiyin appeals for a penalty inside the box after Taylor brings down Sipovic inside the box.  Referee waves them away.

24' Bet your money on Sipovic to make a lunging tackle in a match. He makes one here and goes into the book.  Chennaiyin players and the bench aren't happy with that. Sipovic with a sarcastic 'Change me now. Don't play me' to his bench.

21' Good build up from Chennaiyin, moving the ball swiftly from one side to the other to stretch Odisha. Chhangte cuts in from the right and takes a left-footed shot which goes over the bar.

19' Mauricio with a chance to break on the right but he hits a crossfield pass for Nandha which is out of bounds...

17' CHANCE! Fatkhulo with a brilliant freekick into the box but Sabia heads it over the bar from close range.

Tangri is warming up on the sidelines. Concern over Memo after that tackle.

16' A poor challenge against Memo by Tratt just outside the Odisha box. Chennaiyin forcing Odisha into making mistakes here.

14' Poor pass by Taylor from the back and Memo picks up the loose ball and passes it to Chhangte. Chhangte cuts in and rifles a shot which flies narrowly wide of the near post goal.

12' Handball called against Chhangte outside the Odisha box.

10' Offside called against Mauricio after Jerry looks to release him down the right side. Sipovic makes a welljudged decision to halt his run towards his own goal to play him offside.

7' Jerry M picks out Nandha with a diagonal pass on the left and the winger's cross is headed out by Chennaiyin''s Jerry L.

6' Chennaiyin build up by moving the ball through the right side but Reagan's cross deflects and loops high, which allows Arshdeep to catch the ball.

3' Sylvestr is playing as a second striker behind Rahim Ali, who is leading the line for CFC.

Stuttering Chennaiyin faces off against bottom-placed Odisha

Chennaiyin FC hoped to start 2021 on a positive note after a poor start to the season with just two wins. But things have not gone to plans for the former champion so far in the new year. Earlier in the week, the team got its biggest defeat of the season with a 4-1 thrashing to Hyderabad FC.

On the eve of its match against Odisha FC on Sunday, the team suffered a huge blow when skipper Rafael Crivellaro was ruled out of the season with an ankle injury that he picked up during the match against ATK Mohun Bagan last month.

The skipper was the creative force in the midfield for CFC and, the team looked clueless when he missed a match earlier in the season. It will need to quickly regroup to get its campaign back on track.

The only silver lining for CFC is that it takes on the bottom-placed Odisha FC back-to-back on Sunday and Wednesday, which gives it a chance to find its core in the absence of its skipper.

“I think the last game's performance was bad. I don't want to run away from this because altogether we made a lot of mistakes. I think after this game, everybody in my team has to go and think about it,” said coach Csaba Laszlo.

Podcast: Shyam Vasudevan and Aashin Prasad with the weekly review of the Indian Super League on .

“We have to change, we have to analyze the mistakes and, we have to go back to where we were before,” he added.

Odisha, on the other hand, enters the game on the back of its first win of the season over Kerala Blasters FC (4-2).

The team though has been defensively weak conceding 16 goals and, it is something that it would want to focus on against a Chennaiyin FC side that creates a lot of chances, even if it doesn’t covert it.

“It is important to the degree that we needed to get those three points to give the players the belief and the confidence to continue the roll around,” said Odisha FC manager Stuart Baxter on what the win over KBFC meant.
