Gokulam Kerala routs Churchill Brothers 3-0

Gokulam Kerala FC rode on Ghanaian striker Dennis Antwi's brace to hand Churchill Brothers a 3-0 thrashing in the I-League on Wednesday.

Gokulam Kerala FC sprung a major surprise by downing the runaway leader Churchill Brothers with a convincing 3-0 win in a second round match of the I-League’s championship round at the Kalyani Stadium on Wednesday.

Gokulam’s Ghanaian striker Dennis Antwi found the target twice while Churchill defender Vanlal Duatsanga scored an own goal to complete the former’s scoreline.

The result helped Gokulam Kerala inflict the first defeat on Churchill Brothers, which had remained unbeaten in the 11 matches so far, and climb to the second spot while narrowing the gap with the current leader.

Churchill Brothers continues on the top with 25 points from 12 matches while Gokulam Kerala FC tallied 22 points from its 12 to be a close second.

Earlier, Bidyshagar Singh scored his second successive hat-trick to help Tiddim Road Athletic Union (TRAU) FC of Manipur post a convincing 3-1 win against Real Kashmir FC, at the Kalyani Municipal Stadium.

Bidyashagar had scored his first hat-trick in the previous match where TRAU beat Mohammedan Sporting 4-0.

RoundGlass Punjab FC earned a hard-fought 3-3 draw after Mohammedan SC scored two goals in the second half in what was a thrilling I-League clash.

Both teams fought hard to secure a 3-3 draw at the VYBK Stadium.
 

Chencho Gyeltshen’s brace was cancelled out by Faisal Ali and Pedro Manzi strikes in the second half. Azharuddin Mallick then gave Mohammedan the lead again only for Ashish Jha to score the equaliser for Punjab in the 88th minute.
