Tottenham Hotspur's new signing Son Heung-min.

English Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur’s latest signing South Korean midfielder Son Heung-min has said he has been told not to buy a red car by club officials in connection to their fierce rivalry with Arsenal who wear red shirts as their first-choice kit.

The 23-year-old was signed by Tottenham from German club Bayer Leverkusen for a fee of 30 million euros ($33.8 million) making him the most expensive Asian player in the league.

“Tottenham officials already told me I can’t even buy a red car. I’m very excited to play against Arsenal,” Son was quoted as saying by koreajoongangdaily.com on Thursday.

“I know Tottenham brought me here with big expectations. I know I have to do well, but instead of leaping forward in one big step, I would like to do it step by step. And then I believe good results will follow,” Son said when asked about his targets for the season.

Son added that he would want to challenge all the good players in the league and hoped to visit giants Manchester United’s home ground, Old Trafford.

“Since there are so many good players in the EPL, I want to challenge every one of them. Last season, I was happy I played at Old Trafford against Manchester United in the Champions League, but at the same time, I also felt there are many things I have to develop more.”

“I want to visit Old Trafford, but Tottenham has already played an away game against Manchester United,” he said. IANS
