Year-ending championship from December 24-27

The Rolex Player of the Year title will be up for grabs as the top-60 of the Professional Golf Tour of India’s order of merit will tee off along with 11 sponsor invitees at the McLeod Russel Tour Championship at RCGC from December 24 to 27.

The Rolex Player of the Year title will be up for grabs as the top-60 of the Professional Golf Tour of India’s order of merit will tee off along with 11 sponsor invitees at the McLeod Russel Tour Championship at RCGC from December 24 to 27.

The top 60 in the order of merit will be decided after the 14th Tata Open in Jamshedpur from December 17 to 20 as they will be joined by the likes of former champion and local favourite SSP Chowrasia, Jyoti Randhawa, Gaganjeet Bhullar among others.

Bangalore lad S. Chikkarangappa currently leads the Rolex Rankings for the order of merit with a total purse of Rs. 26,37,440 followed by Abhijit Singh Chadha and Mukesh Kumar after the CG Open in Mumbai.

Defending champion Shankar Das is occupying the 12th place with prize purse of Rs. 14,08,728 in the order of merit.

The sponsor invites will also include four foreign entries — Mohammad Siddikur Rahman (Bangladesh), Mithun Perera (Sri Lanka), Koh Deng Shan (Singapore) and Sean Navin Shrestha (Germany).

Boasting a prize purse of Rs. 1.5 crore, the highest for a domestic event in India, PGTI’s year ending championship is in its fourth year in Kolkata.

The tournament will be a 72-hole stroke-play championship and there will be no cut applied after 36 holes and all players will have guaranteed prize money.

The Pro-Am event preceding the tournament will be played on December 22 and 23.
