Goalkeeper Krishan Bahadur Pathak, who was part of the Indian squad which recently won the Asian Champions Trophy, will play for Kalinga Lancers in the Hockey India League 2024-25.

He was picked by the Odisha team for Rs 32 lakh during the players’ auction in Delhi on Sunday.

Krishan was one of the reserves for the Paris Olympics where P R Sreejesh was the only goalkeeper in the main squad.

After Sreejesh’s retirement, Krishan is expected to be his successor, along with Suraj Karkera.

Pathak, a 26-year-old from Kapurthala, Punjab, was born to parents who migrated from Nepal in search of a better life. His hockey journey began when he joined his friends to play at the Rail Coach Factory (RCF) in Kapurthala.

With 132 international caps spanning six years, Pathak has had the privilege of learning from Sreejesh, ensuring continuity and stability within the group.
