Bengaluru Bulls’ over-reliance on captain Rohit Kumar backfired against a more-rounded team effort by Bengal Warriors, which won 33-29 in the Delhi leg of the ProKabaddi League on Saturday.

That Bulls managed to come this close was mainly because of the relentless attacks by Harish Naik, who took on the mantle of lead raider, and the combined defensive attempts of experienced Ravinder Pahal and Mahender Singh.

Rohit, meanwhile, could only manage two points in 14 raids as his poor form in the last few games continued, the player falling down the leaderboard to fourth among top raiders from top spot.

It was Warriors which raced ahead. Led by Maninder Singh and Deepak Narwal, who regularly scored two-point raids, it opened up a big 4-11 lead in the eighth minute, ensuring a Bulls all-out.

It became 10-18 at half-time and it continued in a similar vein post break.

In the other match, Dabang Delhi’s woes continued as it lost 34-29 to Puneri Paltan to stay entrenched at the bottom of Zone A.
