PKL 2019: Surjeet Singh to lead Puneri Paltan

Puneri Paltan has named Surjeet Singh as its captain for the seventh season of the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL 2019).

Puneri Paltan has announced Surjeet Singh as its skipper for the seventh season of the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL 2019). The defender was part of the Paltan squad in the third season and has returned to lead the pack.

“This is my second stint with Puneri Paltan after the third season, nothing is better than getting an opportunity to lead. Under (chief coach Anup Kumar) Sir’s guidance, we have been training for the league and are all ready to set the mat on fire,” he said.

Former India captain and newly-appointed coach, Anup Kumar, elaborated: “Surjeet is a valuable asset to the team. He has prior experience in leading a team and I have complete faith in his capabilities."

"With the current squad and a leader like Surjeet, I am confident of a stellar show this season," said Anup. Both the captain and coach were talking on the sidelines of a jersey launch by the Pune franchise. Puneri Paltan has a blend of experience and youth in Nitin Tomar, Girish Ernak, Surjeet, supported by youngsters such as Manjeet, Pawan Kumar and Darshan Kadian.

The side will play its first match against Haryana Steelers on July 22 in Hyderabad, while its home leg will be held between September 14-20.
