Pink Panthers benefitted from the solid tackling of its defenders.

Jaipur Pink Panthers banked on the fine performance of its raiders to defeat Puneri Paltan 33-27 in the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) at the Netaji Indoor Stadium here on Sunday.

Apart from its raiders’ excellent showing, the Pink Panthers benefitted from the solid tackling of its defenders. It achieved four all-outs against Paltan on its way to a sixth win.

Jasveer Singh looked in good touch and earned five crucial points to enable Pink Panthers take a 17-9 lead in the first period.

After a neck-and-neck contest, Jasveer’s two-pointer helped Pink Panthers take a 9-6 lead. Paltan was all out in the 14th minute following Ajay Thakur’s unsuccessful raid even as Pink Panthers went up 12-7.

Jasveer was well-supported by fellow raiders, Rajesh Narwal and Ajay Kumar. Amit Hooda also did a good job fetching three points with his fine tackling.

Paltan, which suffered due to some amateurish tackles in the first half, continued to commit unforced errors and was all out again with five minutes of resumption.

Pink Panthers gained from the good job of Kumar and Narwal after the breather even as Paltan, boosted by successful raids of Thakur and Deepak Niwas Hooda, gave a strong fight till the end.

Meanwhile, Patna Pirates rallied from 10-12 down at half-time to beat host Bengal Warriors 33-27.
