Dutch swimmer Rie Mastenbroek, the first woman to win four medals during one Olympic Games, has died aged 84 in her home town of Rotterdam, the ANP news agency reported.

At the 1936 Olympic Games in Berlin, Mastenbroek, who was only seventeen, won the gold medal for the 100m freestyle, the 400m freestyle and the 4x100m freestyle. For the 100m backstroke she got a silver medal.

Her swimming career ended quickly after those Games because she was tired of the daily training and she became an instructor instead.
