Rabat undergoes successful surgery following Silverstone crash

Tito Rabat was struck by Franco Morbidelli's bike in a final practice session at Silverstone which was abandoned due to several crashes.

Tito Rabat has undergone successful surgery on the triple leg-break he suffered at the British Grand Prix, Avintia Ducati have confirmed.

The Spaniard was taken to University Hospital Coventry after being struck by Franco Morbidelli’s bike having aquaplaned during a final MotoGP practice session which was abandoned following several crashes at Silverstone.

Rabat’s team subsequently tweeted: “UPDATE Tito Rabat Surgery at the University Hospital of Coventry has been successful. The fractures of right femur, tibia and fibula have been fixed. He will stay at the UCI hospital until tomorrow.”

Sunday’s race was scheduled to begin 90 minutes earlier due to torrential rain being forecast in the area.
