Varun powers to the top

Varun Sobhan (Cherthala, Kerala) won both the Yamaha YZF-R15 V3 One Make novice races and emerged the overall champion at the MMRT on Sunday.

Varun Sobhan (Cherthala, Kerala) won both the Yamaha YZF-R15 V3 One Make novice races and emerged the overall champion at the MMRT here on Sunday.

Ajai Xavier of Pune finished overall first runner-up.

The event was conducted by Yamaha and MMRT in association with the Madras Motor Sports Club (MMSC) and the Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India (FMSCI), and is part of the Indian National Racing Championship 2018.

The championship featured 40 participants in all. The top-20 from the qualifying round entered the championship races.

The results: Yamaha YZF-R15 V3 One Make novice: Race 1: 1. Varun Sobhan (Cherthala, Kerala), 2. Ajai Xavier (Pune), 3. R.S. Hari Prasath (Vellore).

Race 2: 1. Varun Sobhan; 2. Abhimanyu Gautam (Jind, Haryana); 3. Sanjay Kumar (Coimbatore).

Overall: Winner: Varun Sobhan; First runner-up: Ajai Xavier; Second runner-up: R.S. Hari Prasath.
