Novak Djokovic and Serena Williams won the sportspersons of the year at the glitzy ceremony of the Laureus Sports Awards in Berlin on Monday.

New Zealand's rugby team, the All Blacks, won the world team of the year and it did the double at the awards ceremony when player Dan Carter was voted comeback athlete of the year.

Former Formula One legend and three-time champion Niki Lauda was conferred the lifetime achievement award meanwhile German triathlete Jan Frodeno bagged the action sportsperson of the year. American golfer Jordan Spieth, who recently missed out on the Masters to David Willet, didn't miss out on breakthrough of the year after a string of impressive performances last year.

The sportsperson of the year with a Disability was Brazilian swimmer Daniel Dias, who wasn't in Berlin to collect his award due to the Paralympic trials.

The recently deceased Johan Cruyff, who's passing was mourned by the entire footballing world, was conferred the spirit of sport award.
