India to bid for Youth Olympics, Asian Games and Olympics

IOA president Narinder Batra categorically announced that India would bid to host the three major sporting events.

The time may not be ripe as yet, as clarified by the IOC president, Thomas Bach, who said that there was "no procedure"  in motion at the moment for future Games, but the IOA president Narinder Batra categorically announced that India would bid to host the Youth Olympics in 2026, the Asian Games in 2030 and the Olympics in 2032.

"We take note of the intention to host the future Youth Olympic Games and or Olympic Games. It would be fantastic for the athletes of India to compete at home. It will be a big boost for sports development in the country. But, the time has not come yet. There is no procedure open for Olympics or Youth Olympics. Organising great sport events help promote sport and take it to a new level in a country. India, one day, can organise the Olympic Games’’, said the IOC president.

On the subject of hosting the Olympics, Thomas Bach said that the reformed procedures and norms, presented as Olympic Agenda 2020, had made the organisation of Games "more feasible and sustainable’’, and would help the potential countries interested in organising the Games, save about "one billion American dollars’’.

He also pointed at the encouraging sign of seven countries bidding for the Winter Olympics in 2026. After the Summer Games of 2020 in Tokyo, the next two Olympics have already been allotted to Paris and Los Angeles.
