Jaipur Open: Arjun Prasad builds on lead in second round
Arjun Prasad shot a six-under 64 in the second round to stretch his lead to three strokes in the Rs.1 crore Jaipur Open golf tournament at the Rambagh Golf Club on Thursday.
Arjun had an eagle, five birdies, and a bogey, as he took his score to an overall 14-under 126.
Kshitij Naveed Kaul shot 65, for a 11-under 129. Six players Milind Soni, Sachin Baisoya, Ravi Kumar, Mari Muthu, M Dharma and Harendra Gupta were joint third with 10-under 130.
Prakhar Asawa was the only local golfer to make the cut, as he placed 35th with a three-under 137. The cut was applied on that score.
Sukhraj Singh Gill fired a hole-in-one on the 11th to win a Nissan Magnite car. His five-iron tee shot found the hole. He, however, missed the cut with a two-under 138.
Aadil Bedi was the other player to hit a hole-in-one, and accomplished the task on the second hole. He too missed the cut by one-under 139.

TENNIS
ITF: Nitin Sinha beats Sureshkumar in pre-quarters
Nitin Kumar Sinha beat former national champion Manish Sureshkumar 6-4, 6-3 in the pre-quarterfinals of the $25,000 ITF men’s tennis tournament at the GA Ranade Complex on Thursday.
Nitin will challenge fifth seed Bogdan Bobrov in the quarterfinals.
Karan Singh and Vishnu Vardhan were the two other Indian players to make the quarterfinals, and will face each other.

ITF: Vaidehi knocks out top seed, world no. 125 Gibson in pre-quarters
Vaidehi Chaudhari knocked out top seed and world No.125 Talia Gibson 6-3, 6-4 in the pre-quarterfinals of the $40,000 ITF women’s tennis tournament in Brisbane, Australia, on Thursday.
Two-time national champion, Vaidehi converted five of six break points she forced, and saved eight breakpoints to sail through against the 20-year-old Aussie.
However, two other Indian players, Ankita Raina and Shrivalli Bhamidipaty were beaten in the second round by their seeded opponents.

DU inter-college championship: SRCC, LSR emerge team champions
Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC) and Lady Shri Ram College emerged the team champions in the men’s and women’s sections respectively in the Delhi University inter-college aquatic championship.
SRCC accumulated 56 points to be ahead of St.Stephen’s College (44) and Hansraj College (35) in the men’s section.
LSR topped with 37 points, ahead of SRCC (26) and Jesus and Mary College (21) in the women’s section.

ARCHERY
Vedanta Aluminium’s Sports Initiative Sends Odisha’s Young Archers to National Stage
Seven young archers, five of whom are girls, qualified for the renowned 68th national-level School Games Federation of India (SGFI) Championship, to be hosted by the Sports Authority of Gujarat.
The archers are part of Vedanta’s grassroots sports initiative, which, since its inception in 2018, has offered comprehensive training in archery and other sports to young athletes from underserved communities in the Kalahandi district of Odisha. Through this initiative, more than 100 archers have been trained, with many excelling in state and national competitions, winning a total of 40 medals last year alone.

Sarla Fibres team occupies top position in National Ranking Bridge C’ship
Sarla Fibres demonstrated excellent teamwork to seize the advantage, comfortably finishing at the top of the standings in the qualifying Swiss League of the Mixed Teams competition at the National Ranking Bridge Championship here on Thursday.
The event, organised by the Bridge Federation of India (BFI), was hosted by the Bombay Gymkhana.
The Sarla Fibres team, comprising Vrinda Jhunjhunwala, Rajeev Khandelwal, Himani Khandelwal, Sandeep Karmarkar and Marianne Karmarkar, dominated the proceedings and lost just one match and finished with a tally of 108 VPs.
Team Jesal, with 90.38 VPs, followed in second position, while Team Slammers were in third position with 89.80 VPs.
The top-eight teams have qualified for Friday’s quarterfinals knockouts.
