Paralympians better this year's Olympic record

The top four runners in the men’s 1,500m final, at the Rio 2016 Paralympics Games, in the T13 class all clocked times good enough to win gold at this year’s summer Olympics.

Algeria’s Abdellatif Baka posted an incredible time of three minutes and 48.29 seconds to clinch gold but the top four runners bettered American Matthew Centrowitz Jr.'s time.

In what is the most astonishing story to come out of the Rio 2016 Paralympics Games, the top four runners in the men’s 1,500m final in the T13 class all clocked times good enough to win gold at this year’s summer Olympics.

Algeria’s Abdellatif Baka posted an incredible time of three minutes and 48.29 seconds to clinch gold and his effort was a World Record. The Algerian crossed the finish line ahead of Ethiopia’s Tamiru Demisse, who took silver in 3:48.49 and Kenyan Henry Kirwa (3:49.59), who won bronze. Baka’s brother, Algeria’s Fouad Baka crossed in at fourth with 3:49.84.

To put their achievement in perspective, Matthew Centrowitz Jr. of the U. S. A.’s posted a 3:50 for his gold-medal efforts at the Rio Olympics.
