The sponsorship deal will effectively cover all the expenses incurred by Aditya Mehta in terms of training and competition both at home and abroad.

For World Games champion Aditya Mehta, the timing of two-year sponsorship deal with Delhi-based Ravinder Kumar Gupta could not have been better.

Aditya, the highest ranked and the only pro snooker player from India who is on a comeback trail after an injury break, will be the brand ambassador of rkgsnooker.com , promoted by R.K. Gupta for the next two years.

Gupta informed that the deal would effectively cover all the expenses incurred by Aditya in terms of training and competition both at home and abroad.

“Well, I must thank Mr Gupta for this gesture. If you were to train and play in U.K. it will roughly cost you about Rs. 3 lakh per month. It is a very expensive proposition and that way I am glad that this deal has come through,” Aditya remarked.

Gupta insisted that it was not about money but extending his passion for the sport he played for long. “The main reason for me sponsoring Aditya is that I strongly felt that he should not leave the sport for want of funds,” he said.

“And I will be more than pleased to sponsor any young exciting talent who is a potential champion,” the RKG chairman said.

Interestingly, Shaun Murphy, who is now playing in the ongoing Indian Open is also promoting the group by wearing the logo. “In his case, the deal is only for this event,” Gupta said.

Jason Ferguson, chairman of World Snooker, also appreciated the gesture.
