Asian Airgun Championship: India loses gold to Korea in mixed air rifle team competition

Indian juniors swept the gold and silver but lost the gold to Korea in the main event in mixed air rifle team competition in the Asian Airgun Championship in Taoyuan, Chinese Taipei, on Thursday.

Indian juniors swept the gold and silver but lost the gold to Korea in the main event in mixed air rifle team competition in the Asian Airgun Championship in Taoyuan, Chinese Taipei, on Thursday.

The second team in the main event, Elavenil Valarivan and Ravi Kumar was beaten by 1.2 for the gold by Korea, after the Indian team had topped qualification with 837.1. The other Indian team of Apurvi Chandela and Deepak Kumar placed fourth.

In the junior section, Shreya Agrawal and Yash Vardhan bagged the gold 0.4 point ahead of the other Idnian team of Mehuli Ghosh and Keval Prajapati.

India had earlier won both the mixed air pistol gold medals.

Mixed air rifle team: 1. Korea (Park Sunmin, Shin Minki)  499.6 (832.1); 2. India-A (Elavenil Valarivan, Ravi Kumar) 498.4 (837.1); 3. Chinese Taipei (Yi-Ting Tsai, Shao-Chuan Lu) 433.9 (832.3); 4. India (Apurvi Chandela, Deepak Kumar) 391.2 (826.5).

Mixed air rifle junior team: 1. India-A (Shreya Agrawal, Yash Vardhan) 497.3 (831.2); 2. India (Mehuli Ghosh, Keval Prajapati) 496.9 (838.5); 3. Korea (Park Hyejin, Kang Jungi) 427.7 (830.9).
