Indian shooters make poor outing at shooting World Cup

Olympian Chain Singh and Satyendra Singh shot identical scores of 1166 in the men’s rifle 3-position event and placed 16th and 17th respectively in the shooting World Cup in Fort Benning, US.
Even though the National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) had opted to preserve the top Indian shooters for the more important competition ahead like the Asian Games and the World Championships, a bunch of six Indian shooters opted to capitalise on the chance to compete against world class opposition.
Chain shot 389 in kneeling, 398 in prone and 379 in standing, as he missed a spot in the final by seven points.
Satyendra had 388, 393 and 385 in kneeling, prone and standing positions respectively.
Istvan Peni of Hungary shot 451.4 to win the gold, ahead of Steffen Olsen of Denmark and Yang Haoran of China.
The Chinese decided to test themselves, and swept the medals in women’s air rifle through Wu Mingyang, Zhu Yingjie and Zhao Ruozhu. In qualificaiton, Zhu Yingjie shot 633.4 for a world record, while the lowest score to make the final was 626.8.
