Junior WC: Indian shooters bag 3 gold, 1 bronze

The Indians won a gold each in the team events of men’s 25m standard pistol and women’s 50m rifle prone competitions. India also earned an individual gold medal in the men’s 25m standard pistol competition through Rituraj Singh.

Indian shooters produced an impressive show by bagging three gold medals and a bronze on the opening day of the ISSF Junior World Cup here today.

The Indians won a gold each in the team events of men’s 25m standard pistol and women’s 50m rifle prone competitions. India also earned an individual gold medal in the men’s 25m standard pistol competition through Rituraj Singh.

Gaayathri Nithyanadam bagged a bronze in the women’s 50m rifle prone competition.

The Indian team of Rituraj Singh (569), Shivam Shukla (550) and Arjun Das (542) walked away with the gold medal in the team event of the men’s 25m standard pistol competition, shooting a total of 1661.

France won the silver medal with 1659 points while Australia had to settle with the bronze with 1648 points.

Indian women's also showcased spectacular mental strength as they walked away with the gold medal in the team event of the 50m rifle prone competition.

The team of Gaayathri Nithyanadam (618.4), Sonika (616.9) and Ayushi Podder (611.3) shot a total of 1846.6 to emerge winners. They were followed by France (1841.7) and Poland (1836.3) respectively.
