Manu Bhaker won her second gold medal as she topped women’s air pistol with a total of 239.0 in the 12th Asian Airgun Championship in Taoyuan, Chinese Taipei, on Friday.

After qualifying in the second place with a total of 575, Manu beat Ho Ching Shing of Hong by 1.1 point for the gold.

It was the second gold for Manu, who had earlier won the mixed air pistol gold with Saurabh Chaudhary, with a new world record in qualification.

Shri Nivetha was the other Indian shooter to make the women’s air pistol final, but finished sixth. With the third shooter Anuradha slipping to a below par 556, the Indian trio finished third as a team, behind Korea and Chinese Taipei.

In men’s air pistol, Abhishek Verma was beaten by 0.2 point for the gold by Kim Mose of Korea, while the Asian Games and World Cup gold medallist Saurabh Chaudhary lost a shoot-off and was placed fourth, after having topped qualification with 587.

A penultimate shot of 10.7 saw Abhishek, the Asian Games bronze medallist, bridge the gap to 0.3 against the Korean, but a 9.3 on the last shot proved inadequate to enact a dramatic finish.

Ravinder Singh also made the final with 578, and thus the Indian trio won the team gold, 12 points ahead of Korea.
