National selection trials: Kinnori, Adarsh impress
Kinnori Konar topped the women's 50-metre rifle prone event, while 17-year old Adarsh Singh continued to shine in the 25-metre centre fire pistol event.

Kinnori Konar of West Bengal shot 620.4 and topped women’s 50-metre rifle prone event, 0.4 point ahead of Gaayathri Nithyanandam of Tamil Nadu, in the shooting National selection trials at the Dr. Karni Singh Range, Tughlakabad, on Tuesday. World Championship silver medallist and Olympic quota winner in air rifle, Anjum Moudgil was third, ahead of Ruchira Lawand, and the former World champion Tejaswini Sawant. Kuheli Gangulee who had topped the earlier trial, placed 14th with 613.0. Kinnori, a first year student of DAV College in Chandigarh who trains in Delhi, won the junior prone event as well, 5.4 points ahead of Shirin Godara. In men’s 25-metre centre fire pistol, 17-year-old Adarsh Singh continued to make waves as he topped with 587, two points better than Olympian Gurpreet Singh, while Commonwealth Games gold medallist Anish Bhanwala took the third place. Olympic silver medallist Vijay Kumar was 10th with 577.
Adarsh, a twelfth standard student of Faridabad Model School, who had won the rapid fire pistol gold in the national championship, topped in the 25-metre junior sports pistol event with 585, three points ahead of Harsh Gupta. World junior champion Vijayveer Sidhu and Dilshan Kelley were third and fourth with identical scores of 580.
