National Shotgun C’ship: Manavjit, Rajeshwari win mixed gold

Former world champion Manavjit Singh Sandhu and Rajeshwari Kumari won the mixed trap gold for Punjab in the 62nd National Shotgun Championship at the JDA Range on Friday.

In the final, Manavjit and Rajeshwari were outstanding in beating the other five teams with a total of 44. The duo was in joint lead with the Army team of Balabhadra Tarasia and Seema Tomar in the qualification phase with a total of 135, with 69 for Manavjit and 66 for Rajeshwari.

Delhi team of Fahad Sultan and Saumya Gupta won the silver with 39, after having qualified in the fifth place with a total of 133.

The Tamil Nadu team of Prithviraj Thondaiman and Nivetha Nenthirasigamani won the bronze, one point ahead of the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) which had, the World Champion in double trap Ankur Mittal and Shagun Choudhary.

The qualification topper Army team finished sixth, behind Haryana which had Lakshay Sheoran and Bhawana Choudhary.

Vishwa Kundu and Kiran won the junior gold for Haryana, beating the Rajasthan team of Vivaan Kapoor and Anushka Singh Bhati by two points, after having topped qualification with a total of 131.

Juniors: 1. Haryana (Vishwa Kundu, Kiran) 35 (131); 2. Rajasthan (Vivaan Kapoor, Anushka Singh Bhati) 33 (119); 3. Delhi (Vrishankaditya Parmar, Kirti Gupta) 28 (121).
