Anjum Moudgil continued to score big in women’s rifle 3-position event, but had to be content with the sixth place, as she missed out on further progress by 0.4 point, in the shooting World Cup in Munich on Sunday. Anjum, who had shot a world record equalling 1180 during the elimination phase on Saturday, registered 1177 in the qualification phase, with 394 in kneeling, 397 in prone and 386 in the standing position. In the 45-shot final, Anjum was eliminated after the 41st shot, when she fired a 9.2. The other Indian who had passed the elimination, Gaayathri Nithyanandam was equally efficient as she scored 1176 and missed qualification for the final owing to a lower score of inner-10s, 61x to 63x against Elaheh Ahmadi of Iran who went on to win the gold. There was some disappointment in women’s air pistol as India's two medal hopefuls, Heena Sidhu and the young Manu Bhaker failed to make the final. Heena shot 574 for the 17th place, and Manu was 47th with 567, in a strong field of 122 shooters. In men’s rapid fire pistol, Gurpreet Singh (571), Anish Bhanwala (571) and Neeraj Kumar (549) placed 28th, 30th and 65th respectively. Competing with a borrowed weapon in the MQS section, Olympic silver medallist Vijay Kumar managed to 565.
