Squash: Veer Chotrani crowned Asian U-19 champion

Veer is now the third Indian to win the U-19 Asian junior individual squash championship after Ravi Dixit and Velavan Senthilkumar.

Veer Chotrani won the Asian junior Individual squash championship in the U-19 category with a win over Yash Fadte in an all-India final in Macau on Sunday.

Veer is now the third Indian to win this prestigious title after Ravi Dixit and Velavan Senthilkumar.

Veer, who has previously won the U-13 Asian title in Iran, registered a 11-5, 9-11, 11-7, 9-11, 11-7 win to clich the U-19 championship.

Two other finals featuring Indians did not yield gold. Neel Joshi lost to Nathan Kueh Tze Bing to settle for silver in the U-17 category.

In the girls' U-15 final, India's Yuvna Gupta lost to Aira Binti Azman of Malaysia.

India ended the championship with one gold, three silver and three bronze medals.

Cyrus Poncha, secretary general of SRFI, said: “It is nice to see Veer coming to terms with his abilities. He has been working hard of late and the results are showing. This is a good sign and augurs well for his future."
