GT vs RCB Highlights IPL 2024: Virat Kohli, Will Jacks power Royal Challengers Bengaluru to big win vs Gujarat Titans

Jacks now lays into Rashid. 6-6-4-6-6. What a way to finish the game. Kohli is shocked. Rashid too. And the last six takes him to his maiden IPL hundred. A full array of slog sweeps to take down one of the best bowlers in the league. Jacks shows he is the real deal. 

RCB has chased down 200 in just 16 overs to keep its playoff hopes alive. 

Back-hand slow ball from Mohit and once again Jacks picks it early. Slogs it for a four. He goes one better next ball. Solid connection as he clears the leg side fence. SIX!! Full toss now from Mohit and Jacks flicks it away for another six. To make it worse, it is a no ball and now a freehit for RCB. Just a couple of it though. Now Jacks goes straight. Pumps it straight back for another six. Jacks has found his swing and Mohit is the one paying the price. Another swing through the line and another four. 

Width from Noor and Kohli puts into the gap for a couple. Noor continues to trouble Jacks. But the RCB batter gets lucky. Noor keeps the ball outside the leg stump and the ball misses the bat and the stumps and then the keeper. Four byes. Much fuller from Noor now and Jacks smacks it out of the ground for another six. 

Sai Kishore reintroduced. Gives away just five singles off the first five balls. Jacks now makes room down the leg side and blasts it over long on for a massive six. 

Kohli takes on Noor Ahmad. First a misfield from Miller gifts Kohli a boundary. Noor pitches it just outside the off stump. But that doesn’t stop Kohli from going for the slog sweep and clears the long on, easily. SIX!!!

Back of a length from Mohit Sharma and Jacks launches it over deep mid wicket for a six. That should do him a world of confidence. Mohit responds with quick bouncer, which flies past the batter. Slower one from Mohit and Jacks picks it up quite early. Whacked over extra cover for a four. 12 runs from the over. 

The pressure is mounting on Jacks and he attempts to break free by having a swing at a Rashid Khan good length ball. There seems to be a nick and Saha makes a good catch. Umpire gives it out and Jack review immediately and gets the decision overturned. Rashid offers a little width, enough for Kohli to cut it for a four and get to his fifty. 

Noor continues. His angle from over the wicket is not helping both Kohli and Jacks. The latter attempts two wild sweeps and misses both by a distance. Noor misses his line to Kohli. Cracked to the off side. Omarzai spills it to the fence. FOUR!!

Rashid gets his second. Kohli gets a single first ball with a hit to long on. Jacks returns the strike with another singles. Kohli gets onto the front foot and nudges one to deep mid wicket and scampers in a double. Boundaryless over from Rashid. 

Noor’s turn to have a crack at the RCB batters. He starts with a wide down the off side. Noor goes leg side and Kohli sweeps it fine. FOUR!! Jacks gets his first four with a cut shot, which races past the third man fielder. 

Sai Kishore up against Kohli. The left-arm spinner refuses to pitch it up. Kohli backs away to the leg side before lofting it over long off, barely, to get a six. Now Sai Kishore pitches it up. Kohli brings out the slog sweep to clear deep mid wicket fence. SIX MORE!!

Spin from both ends now. Rashid Khan with his leg spin as GT looks for another wicket. Rashid pushes it up and Kohli lofts it straight over for a four. An uneventful over otherwise. 

Gill turns to spin straight away. Sai Kishore with the ball. He keeps it tight for the first four balls and the pressure forces Faf into taking him on. Tries to clear the fence on the leg side. But it ends as an easy catch for Vijay Shankar.

Omarzai makes the same mistake as Warrier. Drifts onto Faf’s pads and crashed away for a six. Full and outside the off stump. Faf goes after it. Slams it over long off for a six. Straight from Omarzai now. Scooped away by Faf for a four. 

Sandeep Warrier with the second over for Gujarat Titans. Width on offer first ball. Sliced away for a single by Kohli. Gives away a leg-side wide next up. Fuller one from Warrier. Faf nails the cover drive. David Miller with a crucial diving save at extra cover to prevent a boundary. Straight from Warrier against Kohli. Slammed straight back for a four. Warrier misses his line again. Faf clatters it over the square leg. FIRST SIX OF THE INNINGS

RCB’s chase begins. Omarzai with the first over. Swing on offer for the pacer. Beats Kohli’s outside edge with a good length ball. Omarzai misses his line. Clips off du Plessis’ pads and runs away for a four. 

First time I’ve come at 4. I needed to bide time. It was important I rotated strike against spinners early and gave Sai the strike. Nehra told me in the bus, before the game that I’d be batting at 4. (Pitch) The ball spun a bit in the first over but it dried up in the heat. 200 is a good score but we’ll need to bowl well. (His game) I just wanted to step out and hit straight against Karn. I used to go across before and had to train to go straighter. (On Sudharsan) Have played with Sai for the last four years, we’ve had good camaradarie. It was good to play in the middle. We wanted to get 200 and did, now we’ll have to bowl well.

Dayal will bowl the last over. Starts off with a wide outside off. Slow and short once again and once again it’s a tame pull by Miller for a couple. Wide yorker misses its mark again and called wide ball. Good yorker and clipped away for one more by Miller. Sudharsan is again deceived by the short ball. Patidar does a fantastic job by running along the boundary from midwicket to wide long-on and keeping it down to a couple. 

SIX! Full toss to end the innings and Miller has launched this over deep midwicket for a huge maximum. That’s 200 on the board for GT in 20 overs. 

Siraj bowls out. SIX! Sudharsan deftly shuffles across and scoops this for a maximum behind the keeper for a maximum. Sudharsan gets a top edge looking to heave across the line and the ball shoots up in the air behind point. Will Jacks does well to get a hand to it but cannot hold on to the ball. FOUR! Drilled down the ground by Miller for a boundary. That’s the 50-run partnership off 27 balls. 

Change of pace, a bouncer and Miller is too early into the pull and misses. Another dot ball as Siraj goes for a wide yorker and succeeds. This one is too wide outside off and one extra for GT. Short again to end the over and Miller can only pull it for a single on leg-side. 

Green again, for his third over. FOUR! Spanked over cover by Sudharsan and that goes to the boundary. FOUR! Pulled away this time by Sudharsan, who picks the gap between long-on and midwicket to perfection. FOUR! Similar ball from Green and similar treatment by Sudharsan; pulled away to the midwicket boundary. 

Good yorker after those three consecutive fours. Sudharsan can only dig it out for a single on this occasion. Full on off and driven away for one more by Miller. Sudharsan will keep strike with a single at long-on. 

Dayal comes back for his third over. Starts off with a front foot no-ball. That brings up the 150 for GT in 16 overs. Good wide yorker outside off and Miller cannot lay bat on it. This moves in and beats Miller’s jab outside off. Dropped between cover-point by Miller for a single. Punched with the inside half of the bat by Sudharsan to long-on for one more. Miller drives this back to the bowler for a dot ball. FOUR! Pulled away by Miller to the deep square-leg boundary to end the over. 

Maxwell to bowl his third over. Turned away off the pads for a single by Miller. Sudharsan steps out but can only drive it straight to cover. Cut away to point for a quick single by Sudharsan. Driven to deep extra cover for one more by Miller. 

SIX! Sudharsan punishes this delivery in the slot on middle and leg by hoisting it over long-on for a big maximum. 

Siraj is back after bowling two overs for 14 runs. OUT! Yorked him and Shahrukh is castled. In next is David Miller, who is desperate for some form this season. Full just outside off and driven to mid-off by Miller for a dot ball. Full again on off-stump and just a single for Miller through cover-point. FOUR! Loose ball outside leg and Sudharsan gets enough bat on the flick and it runs away to the boundary behind the keeper. Fifty for Sudharsan off 34 balls as he pulls this to deep square-leg for a single. Back of a length on leg-stump and pulled away by Miller behind deep square-leg for one more. 

M. Shahrukh Khan b Mohammed Siraj 58 (30b 3x4 5x6)

Here comes Swapnil again. Cut away by Sudharsan for a single. Slashed by Shahrukh to deep point for two more. Room outside off and slashed to wide long-off by Shahrukh for one. Loose full toss but Sudharsan can’t take full toll of it; it will just be a single. Great over by Swapnil - just six runs from it. 

Green will continue. FOUR! Low full toss and crunched down the ground by Shahrukh first ball of the over. Too short and called wide by the leg-umpire. SIX! Width outside off, Shahrukh frees his arms and slashes this over the fence at deep third. SIX! Launched over wide long-on and that’s a 24-ball fifty for Shahrukh Khan - his first in the IPL. What a knock! 

SIX! Another slog sweep from Sudharsan and he clears the midwicket boundary this time. That’s also the 50-run partnership off 28 balls. SIX! Shahrukh with some nifty use of the feet and slams this over extra-cover for a maximum. Sixteen runs from the over. 

Here comes Green. Starts off with a fiery bouncer, which Shahrukh misses. Not called wide. Shahrukh looks to go big on leg-side, but his bottom hand comes off and the ball flies off the outside edge over point for a single. Tucked off the pads by Sudharsan for one more at deep fine-leg. SIX! Short again, but this time Shahrukh is equal to the task. Pulled away to the square-leg fence for a maximum. He shimmies down the track next ball and drives on the up to deep point for one more. Tucked off the hips for a single by Sudharsan to end the over. 

Here comes Karn again with his leg-spin. SIX! Shahrukh steps out and hammers this down the ground for half a dozen runs. This is pushed wider outside off by Karn and Shahrukh slashes for just a single. Flicked off the pads by Sudharsan for one more. Just three singles and a wide after that first-ball six. Still, Karn goes for 22 runs in 2 overs. 

Maxwell continues. SIX! Shahrukh picks this up from wide outside off and extends his long levers to send the ball sailing down the ground for a maximum.

FOUR! This is pulled away by Shahrukh to the midwicket fence. Much-needed show of intent by GT in the last two overs. Time for a strategic time out! 

Here comes Karn Sharma. Full on middle and off and driven straight to Shahrukh by Sudharsan. The ball ricochets off the non-striker and the batters take a single. Defended on the front foot by Shahrukh for a dot ball. A couple of dot balls in a row for Shahrukh as he comes forward to defend. This is driven down the ground for a single by Shahrukh. SIX! In the slot and Sudharsan has slog swept this for a maximum. Finally some injection of momentum for the hosts. FOUR! This is pulled away through midwicket by Sudharsan for a boundary. Ten runs off the last two balls. 

Maxwell into the attack. Sudharsan starts off with a single at long-on. Cut away hard by Gill for a couple at deep point. OUT! Gill has to go. This was launched down the ground and Green takes a stunning catch diving to his left at long-on. 

Shahrukh Khan has been promoted up the order. He gets a thick outside edge first ball and the ball goes to short third on the bounce. Cut away by Shahrukh for a couple at deep point to end the over. Excellent work by Lomror in the deep. 

Shubman Gill c Cameron Green b Glenn Maxwell 16 (19b 1x4)

Dayal again. Full and going down leg-side, Gill whips it behind to short-fine and it’s just a single. This is too wide outside off-stump and that’s the fourth wide of the innings. Sudharsan gets an inside edge looking to drive this square of the wicket. FOUR! Slower one wide outside off and slashed away to the boundary by Sudharsan. This is angling in and clipped by Sudharsan to midwicket for a dot ball. Slow and low full toss deceives Sudharsan. Two dots in a row after that boundary. Single to end the over. 

Siraj is back for his second over. Siraj bowls two back-to-back bouncers and both have been called wide. Three wides already and just three legal deliveries bowled. This is full and Sudharsan drives this straight to the mid-on fielder. Yorker and dug out by Sudharsan to midwicket for a single. Low full toss and clipped away by Gill for just one. Just seven runs from the nine-ball over. 

Here comes Yash Dayal. Length on leg-stump and Gill misses the flick and collects a leg-bye at short fine. This is defended to mid-off by Sudharsan. Driven by Sudharsan and Kohli does well at short-cover to get a hand to it. Saves three runs. Full on the legs and flicked to deep backward square-leg for a single by Gill. Flicked to short midwicket by Sudharsan and doesn’t really make a good connection. Driven to deep point by Sudharsan for a single off the last ball. 

Swapnil will continue. Gill gets a single at deep extra cover. One more for Sudharsan at long-on. This is driven back to the bowler by Gill. Punched to deep extra cover now for one more by Gill. Swapnil is keeping it fast and flat and not really providing too many scoring options to the batters. FOUR! Sudharsan steps out and drives this powerfully through extra-cover for a boundary. That’s one way to counter Swapnil. FOUR! Sudharsan now shuffles across and sweeps this past short fine-leg for another boundary. 

Sai Sudharsan is the new man in. Mohammed Siraj has the ball. Punched straight to short cover by Gill for a dot ball. FOUR! Firmly pushed down the ground by Gill for a boundary. Pristine timing. On the pads this one and Gill flicks through midwicket for a couple of runs. This is crisply driven by Gill but straight to the cover fielder. Gill pushes this to mid-on and hares for a quick single. There’s a mid-pitch collision between Siraj and Gill and Kohli misses a direct-hit at the non-striker’s end. Gill would have been out by some distance had Kohli not missed the target. Sudharsan is greeted by a bouncer and that’s the over. 

Shubman Gill and Wriddhiman Saha will open the innings for GT. Swapnil Singh, the left-arm spinner, will start with the ball. Stops on Saha, who jabs this to short cover. FOUR! Pitched up slightly, angling in on leg-stump, and Saha flicks it away through midwicket for a boundary. Swept to deep square-leg for just a single by Saha. Pitched up again, but this is more on off-stump, and Gill defends on the front foot. Angling in on leg-stump from a full length and clipped by Gill to mid-on for a single. OUT! Saha holes out at short third. He makes room outside off and tries to go inside out over cover but gets an outside edge to the man in the circle.
