National Squash Championship: Kuruvilla sets up all-Tamil Nadu women’s final with Chinappa

Sunayna Kuruvilla staged a comeback win over Sanya Vats to cruise into the final of the 76th Senior National Squash Championship on Friday.

Third seed Sunayna Kuruvilla of Tamil Nadu made a strong comeback to get past Delhi’s Sanya Vats 10-12, 5-11, 11-6, 11-7, 11-7 to set up an all-Tamil Nadu women’s final in the 76th Senior National Squash Championship here on Friday.

Vats started off on a strong note and take a 2-0 lead, but Kuruvilla returned with a bang to pocket the next three games and book a place in Sunday’s final. She will now face top seed Joshna Chinappa, who defeated Delhi’s Tanvi Khanna in straight games. The men’s final will be an all-Maharashtra affair with top two seeds - Mahesh Mangaonkar and Abhishek Pradhan - squaring off against each other.
