Experience is the strength of the contingent as the men's squad will be spearheaded by the highest ranking Indian Saurav Ghosal along with Harinder Pal Sandhu and Mahesh Mangaonkar. Joshna Chinappa and Dipika Pallikal Karthik's selections doesn't come as a surprise, being the two highest performing professionals in the women's category.

Ramit Tandon, one of the most important players in the recent past, is the sole new face in the Indian men's squad for the forthcoming Asian Games in Jakarta in August. On the other hand, the women's team feature two newcomers in Tamil Nadu's Sunayna Kuruvilla and Delhi's Tanvi Khanna. The duo will also be participating in the women's World team championship later this year.

The SRFI gave weightage to players who had been performing well regularly on the professional circuit. June's Professional Squash Association (PSA) rankings were also taken into consideration.

Ranked one and two respectively, Saurav and Harinder will play both the singles and team event while Ramit and Mahesh will be part of the team event.

In the women's section Joshna and Dipika will take part in the singles and team events. Sunayna Kuruvilla and Tanvi Khanna were selected to fill the two remaining spots after trials conducted at the ISA courts in Chennai.
