Ramkumar Ramanathan faltered in the first hurdle of qualification at Roland Garros.

Ramkumar Ramanathan lost to Jason Kubler of Australia in the first round of qualification for the French Open Grand Slam tournament on Monday.

The Indian fell 6-4, 6-4 in straight sets to World No. 171 in one hour and 32 minutes to lose a chance to compete in the second Grand Slam of the year.

World No. 86 Prajnesh Gunneswaran, who got a direct entry into the main draw of the tournament by virtue of being in the Top 100, will now be the only Indian contestant in the 128-member men's draw.
