Second seed China proved too strong for sixth seed India in its 2-0 victory in the 5-8th positional play-off of the Asia Oceania Junior Davis Cup under-16 tennis tournament in Kuching, Malaysia, on Friday. Krishan Hooda and VM Sandeep won seven games between them in the two singles and the doubles was not played. In the match for the seventh place, India will play eighth seed Philippines. Top seed Japan set up a title clash with the unseeded Uzbekistan, while third seed Australia and seventh seed Hong Kong were drawn to fight for the third place. The top four teams from the competition qualified for the World Group to be staged lated in Europe.

The results (5-8 play-off): China bt India 2-0 (Dong Bohua bt Krishan Hooda 6-1, 6-2; Wang Xiaofei bt VM Sandeep 6-0, 6-4).
