Yuki knocked out of Quanzhou Challenger

Yuki Bhambri managed to win only five games in his loss to Maximilian Marterer.

Belgium's Maximilian Marterer, seeded fifth, beat Yuki Bhambri 6-3, 6-2 in the quarterfinals of the Quanzhou Challenger tournament in China on Thursday.

Yuki, who was forced to play two matches on the day because of a wash out earlier couldn't survive the second match. In the first, he beat fourth seed Blaz Kavcic of Slovenia. The quarterfinal entry fetched Yuki $1460 and 15 ATP points. He's been able to string a series of matches in recent weeks in the Chinese Challenger circuit in preparation for the Davis Cup tie against Uzbekistan to be played in Bengaluru from April 7 to 9. Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan, the Chennai Open doubles champion, made the doubles semifinals with Christopher Rungkat of Indonesia. The duo will challenge the top seeds Aliaksandr Bury of Belarus and Andre Begemann of Germany. In the ITF women’s event in Egypt, second seed Julia Wachaczyk of Germany beat qualifier Ramya Natarajan in the pre-quarterfinals.
