There are many other changes brewing for Davis Cup and Anil Khanna said that a thorough analysis would be done before supporting the moves.

The president of the Asian Tennis Federation and vice-president of the International Tennis Federation (ITF), Anil Khanna, said that it was a welcome move to have best of three sets, but did not agree to the two-day Davis Cup ties being played on Friday and Saturday.

“Play should be on Saturday and Sunday’’, said Anil Khanna, in a chat with Sportstar here on Thursday.

Davis Cup was originally played over three days from Friday to Sunday, with the doubles rubber scheduled on Saturday.

In an attempt to possibly attract the top players and help them compete without worrying about exhausting themselves, the format has been reduced. The first day features two singles, and the second day will have the doubles followed by the reverse singles.

A week-end tie could attract a lot of spectators both in person and on television. However, the Saturday end, possibly helps the players fly for tournaments starting on Monday.
