Ramkumar Ramanathan lost in the first round of the € 64,000 Challenger tennis tournament.

Third seed Ramkumar Ramanathan was beaten 6-4, 6-2 by Laurynas Grigelis of Lithuania in the first round of the € 64,000 Challenger tennis tournament in Spain on Tuesday.

In the Challenger in China, top seeds Sriram Balaji and Vishnu Vardhan were beaten by the Chinese Sun Fajing and Zeng Shi Hong 10-8 in the super tie-break of the doubles pre-quarterfinals.

In the ITF women’s event in Thailand, national champions Riya Bhatia and Prerna Bhambri set up a second round clash against each other.

In a battle of wits that lasted nearly three hours, Riya survived three match points in the third set tie-break to beat Tamachan Momkoonthod of Thailand.

Prerna, on the other hand, sailed past Nudnida Luangnam 6-3, 6-1.
