Anjali Rathi lifts Road to Wimbledon girls title

Anjali Rathi's 7-5, 2-6, 6-1 victory over Pari Singh earned her the ticket to London on Friday.

Anjali Rathi outclassed Veda Raju Prapurna 7-5, 6-0 for the girls title in the Road to Wimbledon under-14 tennis tournament at the Gymkhana Club courts on Saturday.

With the goal having been achieved, to make it to the UK under-14 championship in August in Wimbledon, the finalists were perhaps not in their best competitive frame of mind.

However, it was a totally different case in Chandigarh in the boys event, as Ayushmaan Arjeria fought hard to prevail 6-7(4), 7-6(3), 7-5 against Bushan Haobam in the final.

The results:

Boys (final): Ayushmaan Arjeria bt Bushan Haobam 6-7(4), 7-6(3), 7-5

Third place: Aditya Rathi w.o. Yuvan Nandal

Girls (final): Anjali Rathi bt Veda Raju Prapurna 7-5, 6-0

Third place: Kundana Sri Bandaru bt Pari Singh 6-3, 6-1
