Roger Federer, who won his 100th and 101st title earlier this year, created another record when he took on Casper Ruud in the third round of the French Open on Friday.
Federer became the first person to play 400 Grand Slam matches. Playing at Roland Garros after a gap of four years, the 20-time Major champion could have reached the milestone much earlier.
Serena Williams is second on the list of most Grand Slam appearances with 382. The 23-time Major champion will face Sofia Kenin in the third round of the French Open on Saturday.
Among other active players, Novak Djokovic is the only other player to cross the 300-mark. Rafael Nadal, 11-time French Open champion, has played 292 times in Grand Slams.
Federer's third round opponent, 20-year-old Casper Ruud, is the son of a former rival. Christian Ruud played in the 1999 French Open when a 17-year-old Federer made his main-draw debut.
