Naveen to Head, clubs it down the ground for two runs. SIX! Naveen overpitches and picks it up over long on. A single on the third to long on. FOUR down to fine leg for Abhishek. A single on the final delivery.

FOUR! Head cuts away Bishnoi’s first delivery through point. Beaten on the second. SIX! A slog sweep over mid wicket from Head. Bishnoi yorks Head on the fourth, digs it out to long off for a single. SIX! A length ball and Abhishek picks it off his front foot and parks it over long on.

Ayush Badoni to Head, SIX! Pulls it away over mid wicket. SIX for Abhishek now! He gets to his fifty in 19 balls. FOUR! Abhishek slaps the final delivery through covers.

Yash Thakur to Abhishek, FOUR through point.SIX! It takes a leading edge but flies over fine leg. FOUR down the ground. That’s 100 for Sunrisers Hyderabad. SIX to finish the PowerPlay. Picks it over covers.

Naveen-ul-Haq to bowl the next. Abhishek taps the slower first delivery to point for one. FOUR! Head heaves it over cover-point to breach the rope. FOUR! A swat from Head is able to beat the long off fielder. A 16-ball fifty for Head with a SIX! This is some mind-boggling hitting. ANOTHER FOUR! Head swings at a slower, wide bouncer and clears the infield. FOUR between covers and mid off on the final delivery.

Ravi Bishnoi in to bowl now. SIX! Abhishek gets one in the slot allowing him to free his levers. DROPPED! Abhishek goes for another slog but the googly takes his edge only for Yash Thakur to put it down at short third. FOUR! Head goes back into his crease, reads the wrong one and slaps it past covers. SIX! Head lofts the final delivery over covers.

Gowtham to Head, SIX! Too full from the bowler and Head smokes it down the ground. FOUR! Angling down leg and Head is on his back foot to pull it away over square leg. SIX again! Another hit down the ground. This one was a touch shorter but Head brings his back foot into play and packs it away. A THIRD SIX! STRAIGHT BACK OVER THE BOWLER.

Yash Thakur to Abhishek. FOUR! A short delivery and Abhishek wafts it over mid wicket. FOUR again! Steps out and carves this one between point and backward point. A wide down the leg side. A third FOUR! Again opens the face of the blade to pick the gap between third man and backward point. FOUR more! Yash strays on the pads and Abhishek helps it on its way to the fine leg fence.

Abhishek on strike against Krishnappa Gowtham. Tries to hit the second delivery down the ground, miscues, just one run as long on fields. A leg bye for Head to short fine leg. A wide down leg next. Abhishek plays to deep covers for another single. FOUR! Head pulls the final delivery over fine leg.

A good start will go a long way to give SRH some confidence and thump the opposition. Travis Head is SRH’s leading runscorer this season with 444 runs. Or will the slow wicket draw errors from the famed Sunrisers top order? 

LSG was at 27/2 after the PowerPlay and 66/4 in 11.2 overs. A remarkable resurrection from there by this pair to get to 165 on what seems to be a slow wicket. In his assessment of his knock, Ayush Badoni confirms that the track today has been slow and hard to get going on and there’s no dew. SRH has a solid challenge on hand to try and get past Lucknow and get those two points. 

Cummins to finish. Natarajan has walked off. Abhishek Sharma is the impact sub. Badoni sends Cummins to the fence with a pre-meditated reverse hit. FOUR. Low and nicely placed for Badoni to try and be a left hander and frustrate the birthday boy. He then cuts a slower short ball to deep backward point for one run. What can Pooran do? He will find the fence too. Big swing of the bat, was looking to go to the long off region, but has edged this fine and it runs away for four through third man. Pooran then drives to long off for a couple. Follows that with a nice wristy FOUR. Sliced to the square fence. Pooran finishes with another FOUR through backward point. Nitish Reddy tries to stop the ball, but there’s been contact with the ropes. Umpires ask third umpire, called FOUR. SRH needs 166 to win.

Nattu to bowl out. Badoni clears the fielder at long on and the ball runs off for FOUR. Fuller delivery here from Natarajan. Badoni finds the gap yet again through deep midwicket, but the fielder intercepts the ball at the deep midwicket ropes. Two runs though for Badoni. Natarajan goes too wide and Badoni has sent this going through cover for FOUR. Low full toss and Badoni is happy. Wide yorker and Badoni lunges at it, but can’t do anything. Again wide outside off, Badoni has swished this to deep backward point to bring up his FIFTY. Takes just 28 balls to get to the milestone. Natarajan then bowls into Pooran’s pads and he’s happy to swipe this to the backward square fence for FOUR.

Bhuvi to bowl out. Yorker to Badoni up front. Gets a single through mid off. Nice 60-run stand between this pair now. Has resurrected the innings for LSG. Pooran drives to extra cover but no run, was a nice full toss that. A bit high. He then punches to sweeper cover for a single. Switches between short deliveries and his yorker and concedes just five runs off the over to finish his spell. Brilliant work from the veteran. Nitish also did well to ensure that last delivery was just a run conceded. 

What can LSG do in the last four overs? Third over for Natarajan. A single to start through backward point by Badoni. Wide called off the next, with Natarajan botching up a yorker. Pooran pulls to deep midwicket for two runs. He then drives a fuller delivery from Natarajan for a single. Badoni sees a ball coming into his area, goes down and sweeps to the square leg fence. FOUR. He goes again,this time, a nice cut through backward point. FOUR. Seamless batting from Badoni. 14 runs come off the over. 

Cummins returns for his third. Pooran runs two by thumping the ball to deep midwicket. Cummins attempts a yorker but makes a mess of it. Pooran plays it off his pads to send it to the boundary for FOUR. A dot ball to recover. Bowls full and outside off, Pooran doesn’t connect and Klaasen collects behind the stumps. Sticks with the same line and Pooran tries to flat bat it a bit but it takes an inside edge almost and strays to short midwicket for a single. Badoni then sends the ball to midwicket and calls for two, runs them pretty quickly. A single to finish. 10 runs from this Cummins over. 

Viyaskanth to bowl out. Single for Badoni who miscues a shot but is safely through. Pooran was staying quiet all along and now explodes! Pooran loves his spinners and pulls the ball for SIX through deep midwicket. A dot and a single through long off brings Badoni on strike. Badoni backs up Pooran, goes down on a knee and smacks the ball through the square leg fence for FOUR. Timeout taken. Mid off comes up, square leg goes back. Badoni retains strike with a single through the onside. 

Natarajan continues. Starts with a dot, but Badoni recovers to the pull the ball between through midwicket for FOUR. Goes for the bouncer but called wide. Natarajan goes temptingly outside off. Badoni swings at the ball and it ends up going wide of the keeper to the boundary. FOUR. Edged that one. A little luck going LSG and Badoni’s way. Natarajan bowls another wide and is straying a bit with his line. Badoni uses it to his advantage. Clever batting. He predicts the length and scoops the ball over. 17 runs come off the over. Just what LSG needed. 

Unadkat comes in for his second. Yorker right up front and Pooran finds a way to almost scoop that for a single through long on. He will bowl from around the wicket to Badoni, yields a couple of dot balls. Pooran pulls a bouncer for a single while Badoni takes one more by getting the ball to the sweeper cover region. Just four runs come off the over. 

Natarajan introduced. Pooran opens his bat to send the ball to point for a single. RUN OUT off the next ball? A direct hit from Cummins from the non striker’s end and Pandya is short of his crease. Birthday boy is on target! Ayush Badoni is the new batter in. Badoni is off the mark with a single taken through third.

Pooran is the new batter. Viyaskanth bowls his third. He’s been good, just seven runs conceded so far. These two batters need to get the feel of the wicket and soon. Viyaskanth starts flat, with Krunal swiping the ball to deep square leg for a single. Pooran is off the mark with a nudge to short third for a single. Krunal then negotiates a rising delivery for a single again. Driven this one by the allrounder. Pooran finds his first BOUNDARY, pulled between deep square leg and deep midwicket for FOUR. A single for Pooran and a dot to end the over. 

Rahul faces Cummins. FOUR! A full delivery and Rahul smacks it over mid off. That’s the first four of the innings. He clips the next to mid wicket. Pandya makes room to hit on the off side, Cummins follows him. Clubs it to long on for one run. A slower bouncer for Rahul, swats it past mid wicket for two runs. OUT! Rahul tries to whip it over fine leg, finds the fielder.

Vijayakanth again. Another tight over. Two singles each for Rahul and Pandya in the over.

Jaydev Unadkat into the attack. Pandya pulls, it is miscued due to change of pace, creeps into the gap between mid wicket and square leg, allowing two runs. SIX! Pandya finally connects to a slower one, sends it over long on. SIX again! This one is timed right out of the middle. Pandya hits this length ball right back over the bowler’s head. Pulls the last to deep mid wicket for one.

Vijayakanth Viyaskanth for his first IPL over. Pandya plays a reverse sweep, gets only one. Rahul tries to make room but the delivery is straight, he slaps it to long off for a single. Pandya steps out and pulls the final delivery, lands on a bounce to deep mid wicket. Three runs from the over.

Shahbaz again, Rahul on strike. He drives the second to the left of long on, gets two runs. Rahul drives the third to the same region but this time it yields him only a single. Pandya clips a full delivery off his pads to pick one run.

Kumar for his third over. A leg bye to the on side for Rahul. STOINIS IS GONE! Sanvir Singh has taken a blinder at mid on. Stoinis miscues his pull shot and Sanvir comes charging in to pluck it inches from the ground.

Kumar again. OUT! De Kock holes out at fine leg. NTK with quick thinking to pull off the catch. Loops the ball into the air as he is falling over the rope, regains balance, steps back in and plucks the ball for a second time.
