Sania Mirza in partnership with Shuai Peng of China made the doubles semifinals of the China Open WTA event in Beijing on Friday.

The third-seeded Indo-Chinese pair will face the top seeds Yung-Jan Chan of Chinese Taipei and Martina Hingis of Switzerland yet again.

In the $100,000 men’s Challenger in the US, Ramkumar Ramanathan in partnership with Hans Hack Verdugo of Mexico was beaten in the doubles quarterfinals by Denis Kudla of the US and Mikelis Libietis of Lativa. The second round entry fetched 17 ATP points and $1280 for the Indo-Mexican pair.

In the ITF women’s event in Portugal, qualifier Nandini Sharma put a stiff fight before being beaten in three sets by fourth seed Romy Koelzer of Germany.

Bad weather did not let any match to finish in the ITF women’s event in Colombo, in which many Indian players figure in the draw.
