Sania Mirza in doubles pre-quarters in Dubai

Sania Mirza and partner Barbora Strycova made the doubles pre-quarterfinals of the Dubai Open WTA event with a 6-3, 7-5 victory over Kiki Bertens of the Netherlands and Johanna Larsson of Sweden.

India's Sania Mirza and partner Barbora Strycova will face Abigail Spears of the U.S. and Katarina Srebotnik of Slovakia in the pre-quarters of Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championship.

Sania Mirza in partnership with Barbora Strycova of the Czech Republic made the doubles pre-quarterfinals of the Dubai Open WTA event with a 6-3, 7-5 victory over Kiki Bertens of the Netherlands and Johanna Larsson of Sweden.

In the pre-quarterfinals, the third seeded Indo-Czech pair, which had a bye in the first round, will have a chance to settle score against Abigail Spears of the US and Katarina Srebotnik of Slovakia, who had beaten them in the semifinals last week in Doha.

Multiple Grand Slam champion Leander Paes warmed up with a 7-6(7), 6-3 victory in partnership with Yen-Hsun Lu of Chinese Taipei in the ATP Tour event in Delray Beach. The Indo-Taipei duo may run into the top seeded Bryan brothers, Bob and Mike of the U.S. in the quarterfinals.

In the bottom half, the other Indian pair of Purav Raja and Divij Sharan was scheduled to play second seeds Raven Klaasen of South Africa and Rajeev Ram of the US in the quarterfinals.

In the $15,000 ITF women’s event in Spain, Snehadevi Reddy and Karman Kaur Thandi ran into the third and eighth seeds respectively and bowed out after good fight.
