Wimbledon 2024, July 9 Highlights: While defending champion Carlos Alcaraz progressed to the semifinals, World No. 1 Jannik Sinner lost to Daniil Medvedev in a five-setter.

Defending champion and third seed Carlos Alcaraz defeated 12th-seeded American Tommy Paul in four sets in the men’s singles quarterfinals on the ninth day of Wimbledon 2024 at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club (AELTC), London on Tuesday.

However, World No. 1 and top seed Jannik Sinner lost to 5th-seeded Russian Daniil Medvedev in their quarterfinal. Just like this year’s Australian Open final, the duel between the two went to a deciding set but Medvedev emerged victorious this time.

In women’s singles, French Open runner-up and seventh-seeded Italian Jasmine Paolini demolished 19th-seeded American Emma Navarro in straight sets while Kiwi qualifier Lulu Sun’s amazinf run ended with a three-set loss to Croatia’s Donna Vekic.
