Yuki Bhambri’s run in Zhuhai comes to an end

Bhambri was beaten 6-3, 6-3 by fourth seed Thomas Fabbiano of Italy in the semi finals of the $50,000 men’s Challenger event.

Top seed Yuki Bhambri’s fine run came to an end as he was beaten 6-3, 6-3 by fourth seed Thomas Fabbiano of Italy in the semi finals of the $50,000 men’s Challenger tennis tournament in Zhuhai, China, on Saturday.

“He moved very good. He was definitely the better player today”, conceded Yuki, who collected 33 ATP points and $2510.

More than the ranking points, the good run was a reassuring experience for the 23-year-old Yuki, who had not won a singles match since November last year in the professional circuit, owing to a painful “tennis elbow”.

In the $10,000 men’s event in Japan, seventh seed Karunuday Singh was beaten in straight sets by Issei Okamura of Japan in the quarterfinals.
