Team Blue poses with the trophy after the All-Star match.

The All-Star match for the women – ahead of the inaugural Pro Volleyball League final – saw Team Blue beating Team Yellow 15-5, 12-15 and 15-6. Blue's Alexa Strange was the leading scorer with 13 points and was rightly adjudged the player-of-the-match.

Team Blue won the massively one-sided first set 15-5, with Alexa scoring nine points. She secured the set with a Super Serve. The serve changed hands only a few times and Team Yellow’s star player – Slovenian attacker, Slovenian Marina Cvetanova – did not get to serve at all.

Team Yellow, however, showed marked improvement for the second set as Cvetanova was a lot more involved and the Indian players, too, cut down on their errors that had plagued them earlier. An error from Alexa gave Team Yellow the second set 15-12.

The deciding third set was a repeat of the first and Team Yellow struggled to receive serves and made rudimentary errors making the task of the opponent easier. Team Blue shot to a six-point lead at the Technical Timeout because of some good combination play from M. Sruthi and Rekha. Alexa fired a Super Serve with her team 11-3 and a spike from the captain of Team Blue, Terin Antony, gave it the set and the match.

“I had a blast playing after watching the matches for a month [as a commentator]. It was a wonderful experience playing with these Indian girls and we are friends now,” Alexa, a two-time national champion and and All-American beach volleyball star, said.
