In a mail circulated by the President-faction of the Volleyball Federation of India to the members here on Thursday, among other things, it said that it was ready to withdraw all cases filed at various courts and that it was ready for talks with the Secretary-faction.

However, the Secretary of the VFI, Ramavtar Singh Jakhar, rejected each of the items listed by the President-faction reasoning that it was done by the President to "remain in power."

While elections are due this year, both the factions have not agreed on the dates. While the Secretary said it should be held on or before the calendar year (March 31, 2017), the President, Avadhesh Kumar Choudhary, said it should be held in July 2017 as it was held in the same month four years back, in 2013.

Ramavtar said the reason for holding elections in July last time was the untimely demise of Sivanthi Adityan, the then President of the VFI.

However, the two factions agreed on one thing: nobody from the world body (FIVB) approached them despite the appointment of an ad-hoc committee to oversee the VFI problems and speak to the people concerned.
