It's been a disappointing day at the Asian Games for India's badminton contingent. Former World no. 1 Kidambi Srikanth crashed out in the round-of-32 against Hong Kong's Wing Ki Vincent Wong. H.S. Prannoy went out in the same round to Thailand's Kanthaphon Wangcharoen. Only Ashwini Ponnappa and Sikki Reddy could manage a win for India, as they progressed to the quarterfinals of the women's doubles.
Highlights:
- Kidambi Srikanth crashed out of the men's singles after a second round defeat to Hong Kong's Wong Wing Ki Vincent (21-23 19-21).
- Ashwini Ponnappa and Sikki Reddy won their women's doubles round-of-16 match against Malaysia's Chow Mei Kuan and Lee Meng Yean 21-17, 16-21, 21-19.
- HS Prannoy goes down 2-1 to Thailand's Kanthapon Wangcharoen, thus ending India's hopes of a medal in men's singles.

6:04pm: Prannoy is out too! That's the end of the road for India in men's singles at the Asian Games as HS Prannoy loses 12-21, 21-15, 15-21 to Thailand's Kanthaphon Wangcharoen.
6:00pm: The Thai shuttler has match point at 20-14.
6:02pm: Prannoy's defenses are failing him. Wangcharoen wins four points on the attack taking him close to victory at 19-14.
6:00pm: It's not looking good for Prannoy. He trails 16-13 in the decider.
5:55pm: At the mid-game interval, Wancharoen leads 11-10. It'll be disappointing if Prannoy too crashes out here, after Srikanth's defeat. ( Report )
5:53pm: Wangcharoen is benefiting from Prannoy's unforced errors, the Thai taking the lead at 10-8.
5:52pm: With a powerful cross-court smash, Prannoy levels it at 8-8 after the Thai took the lead.
5:50pm: Wangcharoen levels it at 7-7 after an unforced error from Prannoy.
5:45pm: Prannoy didn't start the third game on the right foot, trailing 1-4. But the world number 11 makes a strong comeback to take the lead 7-5.
Second Game
5:40pm: Wangcharoen saved one match point, but Prannoy held on to take the second game 21-15. The scores are level at one game each.
5:34pm: Prannoy holds off a comeback from his opponent to get to game point in the second game. 20-14
5:31pm: Thailand's Wangcharoen has cut Prannoy's lead to 3 points. 13-10 in the second game.
5:30pm: He's raced to a five-point lead here, Prannoy. After an unconvincing performance in the first game, he leads the second 11-6.
5:20pm: Prannoy has come back with purpose. He takes the lead in the second game. 6-5
First game
5:19pm: Prannoy was able to save one game point, but the Thai shuttler managed to take the game 21-12.
5:15pm: HS Prannoy is in action against Thailand's Kanthaphon Wangcharoen. Wangcharoen leads the first game 16-11.

Srikanth vs Wong
3:35pm:SRIKANTH LOSES! The World number eight goes down in straight games to world number 28 Wong Wing Ki Vincent. 21-23, 19-21. That's another disappointment for India in badminton.
3:32pm: Srikanth is in trouble here. He squanders his lead once again and now Wong in on match point. 19-20
3:31pm: Srikanth's devil today is the amount of unforced errors he's making. 18-16
3:28pm: Srikanth has made a comeback to take the lead at 14-13. He found himself in a similar position in the previous game too, but wasted his chances in the end.

3:23pm: Kidambi Srikanth looks to be continuing his poor recent form as he trails the second game 10-6 after losing the first set. Is this another medal prospect crashing out?

3:08pm: Both the players are engaging each other at the net, trying to force an error. Srikanth trails 17-16 after taking a 3-point lead after the break.
3:04pm: At the mid-game interval, Srikanth leads 11-9.
3:03pm: Srikanth. known for his attacking game, is winning many points at the net and has taken the lead at 10-9.
