Kevin Anderson exudes confidence

Kevin Anderson has spoken about his aim to break into the world top five this year and he believes his current training regime will get him there. "I have reviewed the situations in which I lost the most number of points last year and I am working on those things. Kevin Anderson...using the Chennai Open to tune up for the Australian Open.

Kevin Anderson has made giant leaps in 2015 although that should not be much of a surprise given his 6'10” frame. The world number 12 will begin his 2016 season tomorrow when he takes on the winner of the match between Indian wildcard entrant Ramkumar Ramanathan and Spaniard Daniel Gimeno-Traver.

The South African believes the courts here in Chennai will help him prepare for the upcoming Australian Open. He said, “I have been going to Brisbane for the last few years, but it made sense to play at the Chennai Open because the surface here is very similar to the one at the Australian Open.”

The second-seed had some nail-biting contests against Stan Wawrinka last year and is hoping he gets another shot at the Swiss top-seed come the end of the tournament. “Stan has established himself as one of the best players in the world over the last two years, winning two Grand Slams. If I get to the final and meet him there, I will be really excited about that match-up!”
