BWF World Championships 2022: Ashwini-Sikki Reddy, Pooja-Sanjana crash out

The women's doubles pair of Ashwini Ponnappa and N. Sikki Reddy made a second-round exit from the BWF World Championships 2022 on Wednesday.

The world no. 25 Indian duo suffered 21-15 21-10 straight games loss to China's Chen Qing Chen and Jia Yi Fan - the regaining World Championships gold medallist.

Ashwini-Sikki gave a solid fight in the first game, but the Chinese pair took the game away, winning six consecutive points to 21-15.

In the second game, Chen and Jia came heavily on the Indians, who struggled to return the Chinese's forehand smashes. They cruised to win the game 21-10. The match lasted for 42 minutes.

In another second-round women's doubles match, Pooja Dandu and Sanjana Santosh were no match for So Hee and Shin Seung Chan. The Koreans advanced to the third round with a 21-15 21-7 win.

Later in the day, women's doubles pairs of Treesa Jolly-Gayatri Gopichand and Ashwini Bhat-Shikha Gautam, and India's no. 1 men's doubles pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy-Chirag Shetty and Dhruv Kapila-M.R. Arjun will be in action.

Lakshya Sen, Kidambi Srikanth and H.S. Prannoy will be the other Indians in action in men’s singles.
